Commonwealth hunters mostly come to us for rifles, but a sidearm goes in a lot of Pennsylvania packs too, and the new CZ DUTY 4.0 is worth knowing about. It is a 9x19mm striker-fired pistol whose serialized part is an internal modular chassis; the fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip frame surrounds it. A 4-inch unthreaded barrel, fixed sights and a direct-mount optics-ready slide round out the spec, at 7.4 inches long and 1.3 inches wide.
Pick the C compact, 15+1 rounds and 770 g, for carry in Philadelphia, Norristown or Media where allowed, or the F full-size, 17+1 and 780 g, for the nightstand in Carlisle, Lebanon or Gettysburg and for camp up near Pottsville and Milford. Both come as MS models with a manual thumb safety if you want one. The SFDA trigger pulls at 5.6 pounds and resets in 4 mm; MSRP is $729.
CZ built the DUTY around a serialized chassis that the polymer frame module wraps around, the same idea that lets a buyer change frame size without buying a new serialized gun. The trigger is a refined SFDA striker unit, 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) pull, 0.16 in (4 mm) reset, 9 ± 1 mm (0.4 ± 0.04 in) travel. The slide takes optics by direct mounting; CZ's product photos show Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield units in place. Sights are fixed, the 102 mm barrel is not threaded.
Pick the F when the gun lives on a belt or in a home-defense rather than under a T-shirt. Over the compact it adds two rounds (17+1 against 15+1), about 8 mm of grip and 10 g of weight, and nothing else changes.
This is the version with a manual thumb safety. The three automatic safeties (firing pin block, trigger safety, trigger-bar safety) are the same as on every DUTY; the lever is an extra for people who were trained on one or simply want one.
Who is it for: home defense, duty use, competition and long range sessions where the extra grip and two more rounds matter. If you already shoot a P-10, the DUTY is the next step in the same family, with a new chassis and the optics done right.

No. There is no permit to purchase and no waiting period; your dealer runs the state PICS check when you collect the pistol. Which model for a hunting-camp sidearm? Most will want the F full-size: 17+1 rounds and the taller 143 mm grip for a better hold with gloves. The C compact gives up two rounds and 8 mm of height for easier carry.
