Pennsylvania rifle deer season sends hunters up steep ridges and into thick laurel, often in cold, raw weather. A child sitting a first stand, or a smaller adult hunter, will shoot better with a rifle sized to them, and the Fierce Firearms Mini Rogue family was made with that in mind.

These rifles are aimed at youth, women and smaller-framed hunters. Carbon fiber stocks keep the weight off for a climb up the mountain, while a shorter length of pull and an adjustable comb let the rifle fit a growing shooter. Fierce dual-lug actions and adjustable triggers give a clean, crisp shot. For Commonwealth whitetail, 6.5 Creedmoor or 7mm-08 is ample, and 308 Winchester suits hunters who also hold a bear tag. Spring gobblers aside, this is the rifle for the fall.

22 Creedmoor is a fast, flat-shooting varmint and predator round with very little recoil, which makes it a favorite for new and young buyers who want to stretch their range.

In XP form the Mini Rogue gets a carbon fiber match-grade barrel and a TriggerTech Primary ProCurve trigger; QD flush cups and two 1/4-inch stock spacers come with it.

This rifle has a 18 in barrel, 3+1 capacity, and weighs about 6.3 lb. Finish: Black DLC / Forest Camo.

Sitting a stand on a frosty ridge means bulky layers, and those layers change how a stock fits. Measure length of pull with the coat on and err a little short. Then set the comb so the eye sits right behind the scope without searching. Start a youth hunter on 6mm or 6.5 Creedmoor, and step up to 308 once recoil no longer causes a flinch.
