The Savage Arms 93R17 BVSS is a right-handed bolt-action rifle chambered in .17 HMR, with a stainless and silver finish. It has a 21-inch stainless heavy varmint barrel, weighs 7.96 pounds and measures 39.5 inches overall. The gray laminate stock has cut checkering and a Monte Carlo-style comb, and the adjustable AccuTrigger carries a safety blade. A detachable 5-round box magazine comes with the rifle, and the receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope.

The .17 HMR is a rimfire cartridge, and Pennsylvania's deer and bear seasons require centerfire arms, so this rifle is not for those seasons. Its heavy barrel, adjustable trigger and stable stock point it toward varmint and target work at the range. A shooter who wants a precise rimfire for those uses will find the configuration fits the job.
