The Mossberg Patriot Predator TrueTimber Strata is a bolt-action rifle chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, with a 22-inch fluted barrel, a 42.5-inch overall length and a weight of 7.5 pounds. The lightweight synthetic stock wears the TrueTimber Strata pattern, and the barrel ends in a 5/8x24 threaded muzzle. A detachable five-round magazine comes with the rifle, and a top tang manual safety sits beside Mossberg's user-adjustable Lightning Bolt Action trigger. The receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope.

Pennsylvania's deer and bear seasons allow manually operated centerfire rifles, and a 6.5 Creedmoor bolt action meets that rule. The cartridge is a hunting and precision chambering, and the drilled receiver lets a hunter fit a scope. Check the digest for your Wildlife Management Unit before the season, because the Special Regulations Area counties around Philadelphia restrict rifles. The rifle suits hunters and precision-minded shooters who want a scope-ready bolt action.
